Visual artist Barcaldine Central Queensland Australia

About Kathy Hartland

Kathy has spent most of her life in a remote town in central Queensland, drawing inspiration from the unique beauty of the Australian landscape. Her love for art emerged at an early age, supported by her parents, who gifted her artist-grade oil paints and materials at just 12 years old.

A self-taught artist, Kathy has honed her skills through numerous art workshops and retreats, including  painting experiences in the Northern Territory and Western Australia with professional artists. Her body of work captures the natural splendour of Australia, reflecting her deep connection to its diverse scenery.

Kathy's versatility spans across various mediums, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, collage, pastels, and mixed media. Her art is an extension of her calm and authentic nature, mirroring the tranquility she finds in the world around her. Whether painting en plein air in local landscapes or capturing fleeting moments during her travels across Australia and beyond, Kathy uses her sketches and watercolors as the foundation for her larger oil paintings.

As she continues to explore the vast and varied terrains of Australia, Kathy remains committed to sharing its beauty through her art, creating pieces that evoke a sense of peace and wonder.
